Bay Area Pet Spa and Resort is located adjacent to Bay Area Animal Hospital. We have 30 dog kennels of various sizes, along with multiple cat condos for your boarding needs. Our grooming suite can accommodate the needs of various sized dogs and cats, along with a variety of coat types. We also offer daily daycare Monday through Friday for dogs who pass an evaluation.   • Erik Haukaas DVM

    Veterinarian, Hospital Owner

    Dr. Haukaas grew up in Ashland WI.  He is a graduate of Ashland High School, and Northland College.  He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Wisconsin-School of Veterinary Medicine in 1990.  Erik and his wife Amy (who is the office manager) have two children, Alyssa and Jake.  They share their home with their dogs, "Slate" and "Cider".

    Dr. Haukaas joined the Bay Area Animal Hospital in 1993, and became the owner in 1998.  A new hospital building was completed in 2008 to accommodate the business growth and include pet grooming, boarding and daycare.

    Erik enjoys hunting and fishing in the Chequamagon Bay area when not working.  He is a member of the AVMA, WVMA, and the Chequamagon Humane Association.

  • Tanya Sherrard

    Pet Groomer

    Tanya currently lives in Washburn, WI. She graduated from Bethany Lutheran College in May of 2017 with a BA in Studio Arts, and an emphasis in 3D, 2D and graphic design. She is also a certified groomer since August of 2017. Along with the interest in art, she also finds all kinds of animals interesting and fun to learn about, especially the ones we can call our own. Her family has 3 dogs, Otto, Fritz and Edsel. Tanya also has a few pets of her own; a dog named Little Belle, 6 chickens and two cats named Qu and Sky.

    Spa Attendant

    Erika relocated from Arizona to Ashland in 2016 with her dog, Benjamin. She is currently earning a Bachelors in the Science of Business Administration at University of Phoenix. Outside of school and work, Erika has many hobbies including photography, cooking, and being in the great outdoors with Ben. She loves all types of animals, especially ones found in the wild. Family is very important and she takes every opportunity to travel to visit with them.
  • Megan Hamann

    Veterinary Assistant

    Megan was born and raised in the Ashland area and has always loved animals and being outdoors. When not at work, Megan enjoys hunting, ice fishing, four wheeling and spending time with her family. Her and her husband, Brett, have one dog named Rocky, a Red-Eared Slider turtle named Link and 4 Guinea Pigs named Jax, Gemma, Rhino and Flash. In the future, she hopes to be able to travel to Russia and in the meantime learn the Russian language.

    Violet was born in Park Falls, Wisconsin and recently relocated to Ashland. She has always had an interest in working with animals, and hopes to go to school to become a vet technician. In her free time she likes to draw, visit her family, go camping and take hikes with her two dogs, Rex and Milo. She has always grown up with animals at home having five dogs and three cats.
