  • Erik Haukaas DVM

    Veterinarian, Hospital Owner

    Dr. Haukaas grew up in Ashland WI.  He is a graduate of Ashland High School, and Northland College.  He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Wisconsin-School of Veterinary Medicine in 1990.  Erik and his wife Amy (who is the office manager) have two children, Alyssa and Jake.  They share their home with their dogs "Charlie" and "Cider".

    Dr. Haukaas joined the Bay Area Animal Hospital in 1993, and became the owner in 1998.  A new hospital building was completed in 2008 to accommodate the business growth and include pet grooming, boarding and daycare.

    Erik enjoys hunting and fishing in the Chequamagon Bay area when not working.  He is a member of the AVMA, WVMA, and the Chequamagon Humane Association.

  • Cassie Brackin

      Veterinary Assistant  

    Cassie has been a resident of Ashland and Washburn for over 15 years. She attended college at Globe University in Eau Claire for Veterinary Technician. Cassie has a hobby farm which includes 40+ chickens, 3 cows, and 2 dogs named Dubs and Tigger. She has 2 children Dylan and Novalee plus four step children, Jordon, Mariah, Mckenzy, and Dakota. She has a niece and nephew named Alexa, and David. Cassie is very family orientated and has a passion for animals. Cassie loves to be outside and go fishing anytime she has a chance.     

  • Nikki Pazdra

       Spa Attendant 

    Nikki was born outside of Chicago and is fairly new to the Ashland area. She is a professional dog trainer by trade, but loves to play music and go kayaking in her free time. She has a pet mini pig named Ham and a Pit bull rescue named Ruby. Nikki has a strong passion for caring for and rehabilitating animals of all kinds. Fun Fact: She loves anything to do with Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings.     

  • Taylor Lepak

    Spa Attendant

    Taylor grew up in Central Wisconsin, and moved to Ashland to attend Northland College. She graduated in 2015, with Bachelors of Science degrees in Natural Resources and Biology. After living in Alaska for a year, Taylor moved back to Ashland to pursue a Master's degree in Teaching and Education. She has a strong love of animals and the outdoors. In her spare time, she can be found either cuddled up with her dog, Kona, or by the lake fishing with her boyfriend. 
  • Tanya Sherrard

    Pet Groomer

    Tanya recently moved up to Ashland, after graduating Bethany Lutheran College in May of 2017 with a BA in Studio Arts, with an emphasis in 3D,2D and graphic design. Along with the interest in art, she also find all kinds of animals to be interesting and fun to learn about, especially the ones we can call our own. Her family has 3 dogs, Otto, Fritz, and Edsel. Tanya also has a few pets of her own as well; a hamster named Brutus and two kittens named Pickles and Qu. 

  • Emily Nielsen

    Spa Attendant

    Emily is originally from Montana and is new to the Ashland area. She attends Northland College with intentions to major in history. She also plays on the women’s basketball team and enjoys many activities. Emily has two dogs named Leo and Cooper. She loves animals and the outdoors. 

  • McKayla Waggoner

    Spa Attendant

    McKayla is originally from Minong, WI but moved Ashland to attend Northland College to pursue a degree in Elementary and Special Education. She plays college basketball while spending her free time with her cat, Maci. She loves being around her friends and has a love for dogs and cats of all types. After graduation she hopes to have her own classroom with a service dog to help students.
